How do I become a member?

Becoming a member is easy and can be completed in a few minutes. Please follow the link here to create a PMI account, if you have not already done so. You will then be instructed to choose the type of membership and your local chapter.

In the final steps you will be directed to checkout. Enter your banking information, confirm your personal information and submit. Upon submission yo will receive confirmation of your payment via email.

Can I have a discount on Membership Fees?

There is no discounted membership to PMI.org. They instead have tailored membership options such as the student membership, retiree membership and general membership.

How do I pay membership fees?

Please visit PMI.org to pay for your PMI Annual Membership and PMI Jamaica Chapter fees. Payment are made in U.S. dollars via credit card, check or bank transfer. PMI accepts: Visa, MasterCard.

Can my membership be cancelled or refunded?

PMI Membership is non-refundable and non-transferable. You can choose to not renew your PMI membership at the time of your next expiration..

Are there any special initiatives for new members?

PMI offers to waive cost to join the local chapter for the new members by availing the guest passes.

How do I redeem my guest pass?

How to Redeem Guest Pass

  1. Go to PMI.org: Local Chapters
  2. LOGIN or REGISTER via the buttons in the upper right hand corner
  3. Locate your chapter or use the Find Another Chapter search and select JOIN CHAPTER
  4. You will be automatically taken to your cart
  5. At the bottom of the page, above subtotal enter your  DISCOUNT or PROMOTIONAL CODE
  6. Click APPLY to apply the code.
    NOTE: Please be aware, that once a code is entered into the online “shopping cart” on PMI.org, the transaction must be completed at that time.
  7. Click CONTINUE TO CHECKOUT to enter payment information
  8. Follow the prompts and click PLACE ORDER to complete your transaction
How do I obtain a PMI Certification?

Do I have to become a member to apply for a certification?

No. PMI membership is separate from PMI certifications. However, as a PMI member, you will have access to many benefits including discounts on your certification exam fee as well as discounts on professional development opportunities to help with maintenance of your certification(s).

What courses qualify for the Project Management education requirements for certification?

Courses must be consistent with the Project Management Institute's (PMI ®) Guide to Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK ®). The project management programs from the Mona School of Business & Management, and the Project Management Global Institute qualify along with other approved education providers.

A Project Management Professional (PMP)® is the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers.

What is a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)?

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification allows an individual to gain recognition for their dedication to professional development while accumulating the necessary hours of experience to qualify to write the PMP Certification exam. None of the certifications are pre-requisites to one another.

Does my certification expire?

Most PMI certifications are valid for three years. Depending on your certification, you’ll earn either 30 or 60 PDUs per three-year certification cycle. Please review the Maintain Your Certification information on the PMI website for more details. Please note: If you hold the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®, you’ll need to retake the exam before the end of your five-year certification cycle. No PDUs are necessary for CAPM® re-certification.

What is a Professional Development Unit (PDU)?

Professional Development Units (PDUs) are required for maintaining Project Management Institute (PMI) certification credentials. One PDU is worth one hour of training. PMI credential holders can claim PDUs by visiting PMI’s website.

How do I volunteer with the Jamaica Chapter?

There are 3 alternative and complementary starting points. You can create a profile on our online Volunteer Relationship Management System here and indicate what kinds of volunteer positions you are interested in. You will get automatic emails whenver positions maticing your interests are advertised. You can email us at volunteers@pmijamaica.org and indicate your area of interst and availability. You may also speak with an elected officer or volunteer leader with whom you would like to work.s.

Do I need to be a member to volunteer with the Jamaica Chapter?

You do not need to be a member to volunteer with PMI Jamaica.

How do I become a Committee Chair?

Chairperson positions are appointed by the Officers. Please contact our Volunteers Chairperson at volunteer@pmijamaica.org with the Chairperson position to express your interest.

How do I become a Member of the Board?

Officer positions are elected by the membership. Please contact pmi@pmijamaica.org if you are interested in becoming an Officer.

Where are PMI Jamaica Chapter Meetings held?

PMI Jamaica Chapter meetigns are held at the Hotel Four Seasons in the Alexandia suite, 19 Ruthven Rd, Kingson. However the pandeminc has directed us to offer virtual meetings to continue engaging our memebers during a time that requires us to maintain a safe distance.

How often are PMI Jamaica Chapter Meetings held

PMI Jamaica chapter meetings are held 11 times a year, with hiatus in August.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.

How can I opt-in/opt-out to receive Chapter Emails?

For members, there is an option in your member profile to manage receiving Chapter e-mails. Please modify this setting to make the appropriate change. Please note if you opt-out. you will not get meeting updates or notofications.

For non-members, please click the un-subscribe link at the bottom of the email that you received to be removed. To be added to the distribution list as a non-member, please email membership@pmijamaica.org to have a non-member profile established for you.

Are you the same as the Doctor Bird Chapter?

Yes. The members of the PMI Doctor Bird Chapter agreed to rename the organization to the PMI Jamaica Chapter, and this was completed in 2015

What is the relationship between PMGI, MBSM and PMI Jamaica?

Project Management Global Institute (PMGI) and Mona School of Business & Manahement are training organizations which have received licences to provide training in Jamaica. PMI Jamaica is professional Association charterd by PMI to serve project managers and advance the profession in Jamaica.
