The PMI Jamaica Chapter Celebrates International Project Management Day under the theme ‘Looking Ahead: Creating a Project-led Recovery”
PMI Jamaica joins the global Project Management community in celebrating Project, Program and Portfolio Management Professionals in Jamaica and the Caribbean region. Project management professionals are uniquely positioned to help identify problems, resolve issues and meet needs. By applying and inspiring leadership, vision, motivation and problem-solving, project managers help others reach their goals.
At the beginning of the year, the novel Covid-19 Pandemic outbreak sent shockwaves of disruption to the shores of the Caribbean islands and presents unprecedented challenges to the way we live and do business. The effects of the Covid-19 -Induced Uncertainty has tested the resilience of project managers and triggered an unparalleled level of responsiveness in an effort to address the socioeconomic fallout from the crisis.
Today , November 5th, 2020, we recognize the value and incredible role that Project Professionals play in the ongoing recovery process as we rapidly adapt and transform to the wave of changes in this ever evolving project economy. “As we look ahead, together we face the unpredictable journey to recovery. Now more than ever Project Professionals must answer the call to develop a roadmap to navigate ‘the unchartered’, paved with uncertainties and new opportunities to create a Project-led recovery” – Ava-Lyn Minott, President and Chair of PMI Jamaica.
As Project Managers we stand in global solidarity on a mission to rebuild and revive the local economy by leveraging our knowledge and expertise to support our nation in securing a sustainable future.
We are happy to join PMI ‘Global Month of Service’ in supporting Amnesty International’s Write for Rights campaign, to use our words for good. We encourage you to pledge to write letters on behalf of people who need urgent help. During the month of November we invite those with a passion for social good to collaborate with us to identify and support projects targeting positive youth development during these unprecedented times.
