Mr. Chapi Mwango, PMP

Chapi Mwango began his career in the mining industry where he gained expertise, eventually leading teams, in planning and executing plant maintenance and process improvement projects in mineral processing plants.

For 10 years thereafter, he applied his skills in the engineering consulting industry, holding leadership roles such as project engineer, lead mechanical engineer and engineering manager, helping to deliver major projects ranging from engineering studies to construction and commissioning of processing plants.

He presently heads the Contract Management Unit of the International Seabed Authority. The unit is responsible for monitoring the activities of and engaging with exploration contractors who annually spend millions of dollars exploring for deep sea mineral resources as well as developing deep sea mining technologies.

Having worked in Zambia, Canada, South Africa and presently Jamaica, Chapi has a wealth of international experience.

He has been a PMP since 2015, is a registered professional engineer and holds a professional accounting qualification (ACCA).
